Favorite Transit System: Paris Métro

Bio

Roy has more than six years of experience in transport infrastructure engineering and project management across both the private and public sector in Kenya and Somalia.

Following a summer training at UC Davis as a Mandela Washington Fellow in 2023, Roy secured an opportunity to pursue an MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering in the hopes of learning best industry practices to help improve public transportation infrastructure and service provision in developing nations. Specifically, he's keen on integration of existing privately run matatus (Kenya's micro transit) on upcoming BRT lines currently being envisioned for Nairobi Metropolitan Area. To this end, his current research focuses on rider-centric perspectives for priority improvements to transit systems in developing nations.

Roy’s favorite transit system that he would love to visit and experience first-hand is Paris’ Métro due to its efficiency in serving one of the highest ridership in the world with a seamless connectivity to an ever-expanding bike network.
