Favorite Transit Systems: Hong Kong MTR and Unitrans
Marcus Chan is a PhD student in the Civil and Environmental Engineering program at UC Davis. His background includes a series of transportation planning and engineering internships in both public and private sectors. In addition, he is a recipient of multiple awards, fellowships, and scholarships. In his role as a graduate student researcher, Marcus had been involved in projects such as the COVID-19 Mobility Study, investigating shifts in transportation behaviors and attitudes during the pandemic, and the road pricing project in Los Angeles, delving into stakeholder perspectives on sustainability. Currently, his research is centered on transit innovation, such as developing a transit ridership forecasting model for student-centric communities. His research interests lie in travel behavior, public transit, travel demand modeling, and emerging mobility solutions.
