- IDOT Non-Rider Study - This study’s research team seeks to identify and analyze the reasons behind declining ridership among downstate Illinois transit systems. To achieve this goal, the research team shall conduct household surveys and focus groups in the service areas of eight downstate transit agencies covering seven geographic regions. This study will address the following four primary research questions:
- What are the characteristics of non-riders and lapsed riders, and how do these compare with those of current transit users?
- What are the key barriers to transit use among non-riders and lapsed riders?
- How are emerging and evolving transportation technologies influencing transit ridership?
- What types of strategies might encourage more frequent transit use?
Role: Co-PI (with Lindsay M. Braun and Bumsoo Lee).
