PhD Student, Transportation Technology and Policy

Jason is a Ph.D student at the Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS) at UC Davis. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Tufts University and a Master of Laws in Law and International Development from SOAS, University of London.
Prior to coming to UC Davis, Jason served as a Senior International Policy Advisor and Division Chief at the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of International Transportation and Trade. While there, he developed the policy agenda for DOT’s international relationships, incorporating topics like transport decarbonization, emerging mobility technologies, and infrastructure finance and project delivery. During his government career, he is most proud of having served two, two-year terms as the Lead Shepherd of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Transportation Working Group, a policymaking group representing the transportation authorities of 21 Asia-Pacific member economies.
His research interests include the impact of new transportation technologies on legacy transit operators in the Global South, as well as the role that policymakers in developing economies can play in improving decisions around mobility, transportation investment, and transportation-sector technology integration.
