Bio

Hope Bodenschatz is a PhD student in Transportation Technology and Policy. She graduated from Penn State University in 2021 with degrees in economics (MA and BS), geography (BA), and political science (BA) with a minor in sustainability leadership. Before coming to UC Davis, Hope worked as a research assistant in the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston’s New England Public Policy Center.

Hope’s research interests include initiatives to reduce car dependency and exploring what motivates people to choose shared, sustainable transportation modes. Her research at UC Davis is focused on how pricing strategies for shared micromobility and intercity rail can increase ridership. She supports projects analyzing the effect of a new flat rate payment option on shared micromobility use, exploring the effect of payment integration between shared micromobility and transit on transit ridership, and estimating commuter rail fare elasticities.
