Claire is a Masters’ student in the Transportation Technology and Policy (TTP) graduate group with eight years of prior experience in transportation and traffic engineering in her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Claire’s research focus at UC Davis has been on transportation equity. In the most recently completed project with her advisor, Jesus M. Barajas, they evaluated online transportation equity tools that include spatial dashboard components. They first evaluated each tool for how the tool defines or calculates disadvantaged communities, then what each tool measures in terms of transportation benefits or burdens. Finally, they evaluated these tools for their overall ease of use and ability to guide decisions to advance transportation equity. Her current project as a graduate student researcher involves evaluating Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) mitigation strategies for potential equity impacts.
