PhD Candidate, Transportation Technology and Policy

Claire is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Transportation Technology and Policy (TTP) graduate group with eight years of prior experience in transportation and traffic engineering in her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Claire’s research focus at UC Davis has been broadly on transportation equity, including identifying and evaluating online transportation tools with spatial dashboard components, understanding community impacts of vehicle miles traveled (VMT) mitigation measures for equity impacts, and conducting interviews to understand effects of housing and transportation costs on communities throughout California. She completed her master’s thesis in 2025 with a focus on understanding how accessibility metrics can be used to assess gender inequities in terms of opportunities available. As a Ph.D. student, she plans to continue to focus her research on accessibility measures, with a focus on perceived accessibility, perceived safety, and how these relate to gender.
